Sailing in 2020
Published 11:03 on 23 May 2020
Well - we were all set up for a great season in 2020 - an exciting new boat, an extensively refurbished fleet and lots of plans for our 25th Anniversary as a charity and then ..... We are very sorry to have to let all our sailors know this, but, with safety of all our stakeholders the top priority, we really don't feel we can safely offer our sailing programme this season. The Project trustees met this week and have issued the following statement:
The Trustees of the Woolverstone Project have met to consider the situation in relation to sailing for the rest of the 2020 season. In the light of current government guidelines and the likely path of the pandemic, we have very reluctantly decided that we do not expect to be able to offer any sailing activities for the rest of the 2020 season. However, should circumstances change we will let everyone know immediately.
This season is our 25th anniversary as a charity and while we are very disappointed that we will not be able to run any of the planned events, we have various plans for 2021 which we will pass on in due course as plans progress.
We anticipate that we are likely to start the 2021 season later than usual but will keep the situation under constant review. We wish all our sailors and volunteers the very best during these unprecedented times and we will aim to continue our off-the-water (online) activities to ensure we all keep in touch. In the meantime, do consider following us on Facebook as we will post various things there and will, of course, keep you all completely up to date with any changes in this situation. Please do pass this message on to any other groups or people who may be affected by this decision.
We are of course disappointed to have to make this decision, but we will keep the situation constantly under review in case of changes.
