Nancy Oldfield Trust

In September a group of sailors went to Norfolk for a 5-day break. They stayed in the accessible on-site accommodation.
As an introduction to the area, on the first morning we went to the nearby boardwalk to view Barton Broad where they would sail, walking through a beautiful nature reserve. That afternoon we drove to Stalham to experience Barton Broad from Nancy Oldfield’s electric cruiser.
The following day all the sailors chose to sail a Yeoman dinghy. A ride in wheelchair accessible RIBs took them to the floating pontoon with its Ark. Once the Yeoman dinghies were rigged the sailors sailed around Barton Broad accompanied by a Nancy Oldfield volunteer.
The next day was our last one. They had chosen either to paddle a canoe or sail a Venture.
Comments from the sailors:
- The 2 sailing sessions were the high spot of the week.
- We always felt safe.
- Nancy Oldfield staff were well trained, very knowledgeable yet relaxed in their approach and provided good experiences.
- A relaxed few days with good weather, good food, good company in a beautiful setting.
To round off the week our last meal was in the local pub.
