Nancy Oldfield visit

Sailors from the Woolverstone Project recently had a short break staying with the Nancy Oldfield Trust at Neatishead in Norfolk. The Trust offers accessible boating on the Norfolk Broads. We stayed in the onsite bungalow which is well adapted for disabled guests. We self-catered, the community shop in the village was good for topping up supplies! We went to the village pub for an evening meal on our last night.
Each day we had a half-day activity (which we chose in advance) and free time to explore the local area. Our sailors tried canoeing, pedal boating, sailing and had a trip on a cruiser. The Trusts land base is on Limekiln Dyke and they have a floating pontoon on Barton Broad. Boats there include Hansa, Yeoman and a Venture. There is a hoist on the pontoon. To reach the pontoon we pedalled, paddled the rafted canoe or rode in their taxi RIB along the dyke. We chose to sail in 4 Yeoman as the Woolverstone Project does not have any of these. It was a thrilling sail as the wind was gathering strength. Each group was accompanied by a Nancy Oldfield Trust volunteer. All the staff and volunteers were very friendly and helpful and a good time was had by all.
Thanks to the Nancy Oldfield Trust.
