    Our boat names

The names of our boats help give us a lot of the history of the project and all the groups and individuals who have supported us over the years, so we thought it would be nice to let people know some of this history. The names of the boats (past and present) are given below with a little background on how they were funded. Thanks to everyone who helped put this together and in particular,

    Johnty Dickinson MBE

The first Trustees of the Woolverstone Project when it started as a charity in 1995 were Peter Hooper, Johnty Dickinson and Simon Tozer. Johnty worked tirelessly for the Project right from the outset. This work was recognised when he was awarded an MBE in 2004. In a typically modest way, when told about the award, he said "I think, without sounding pompous, it is not really for me but for the project, particularly the sailors.

    Thanks to Waitrose shoppers

Many thanks to the team at Waitrose Community Matters for coming down to visit our session last week. They came to present us with a cheque for donations received through the Waitrose blue token scheme. Thanks to everyone shopping at Waitrose for their support and to the Waitrose team for coming down to see where the money is being used. Despite it being a fairly cold day, we nevertheless had

    AGM 2020

Many thanks to everyone who came along to our AGM this year. It was great to see so many volunteers and sailors at the meeting. We were delighted to have two guests along - Hugh de las Casas (one of our original founders) and Bryan Knibbs - the Chair of the Woodbridge Riverside Trust - who told us all about the work going on in the Long Shed at Woodbridge. We were pleased that Hugh

    Flossie Trophy 2019

At the 2020 AGM the Flossie Trophy (in memory of Ruth Hammond who donated Flossie) was awarded to Will Spinner. Will was awarded the trophy in recognition of his contribution to our youth group sessions and we were delighted that he was able to attend to collect the trophy. He was unable to attend the Christmas Party where the awards were all made, so it was great to catch up with him at the AGM.

    Yachting on film

Maritime Film Festival January 2020 Sailors are used to getting windswept, wet and cold, but even we sometimes draw the line at doing this in mid-winter and can be reluctant to venture outside in the midst of winter gales. So what better than watching other doing it on film? To enable sailors to get their 'fix' of sailing we therefore put on a unique new event a Maritime

    Heading down under

The Chair of Trustees has temporarily gone awol from the project! In a vain attempt to recapture his youth he has embarked on a gap year, though the latest trip is just a couple of months trying to get away from winter on the other side of the world. As part of this trip he visited a sailability group on Sydney Harbour - Manly Sailability. They were very welcoming and went to a lot of

    Brandy Race - results

We had 16 sailors in 3.3s with Buddies so after 3 heats and a final the winner was Phil crewed by Janet. Heat winners were 1 - Phil with Janet, Ross with Angela and Patrick with John N. There were
